SILBELT™ - Precision Turntable Belts
Engineered for Stability and Longevity
At Silence, we believe every component should reflect the same commitment to excellence as the product itself. Introducing SILBELT™ — a precision-engineered silicone belt designed for unmatched rotational stability, long-term consistency, and exceptional durability.
Crafted using advanced vacuum casting techniques and premium RTV silicone with Shore 50 hardness, each SILBELT™ is manufactured to exacting dimensional standards. Its unique composition and meticulous production process offer a significant performance advantage over traditional rubber belts — delivering the kind of stability and refinement demanded by the most discerning audiophiles.
Exceptional Stability: Low Creep and Slip
Speed accuracy is fundamental to analog playback, and two of the most critical factors affecting belt-driven systems are creep and slip — both of which can introduce unwanted pitch variation and subtle distortions over time.
Creep, the gradual elongation of the belt under tension, is a common issue in rubber belts (such as NBR or EPDM), which typically exhibit between 0.5% and 2% creep. In contrast, SILBELT™ exhibits creep levels below 0.01%, maintaining its exact form and tension for years of consistent playback.
Slip refers to the belt’s ability to maintain grip under changing loads. While conventional belts may allow 1%–3% slip, SILBELT™ holds its place with less than 0.5% slip, ensuring unwavering rotational speed even during dynamic passages.
Precision by Design: Vacuum-Cast Manufacturing
The superior performance of SILBELT™ is made possible through the use of vacuum casting, a manufacturing method typically reserved for high-precision industries.
The Process
-
Vacuum Preparation: The silicone compound is first de-aerated in a vacuum chamber to remove all trapped air — eliminating any imperfections that might compromise structural integrity.
-
Mold Casting: The material is then introduced into precision-engineered molds, ensuring complete and uniform fill.
-
Curing: Controlled heat and pressure are applied to finalize the shape and solidify the mechanical properties of the belt, enhancing its elasticity, consistency, and resistance to environmental aging.
This entire process ensures each SILBELT™ belt is dimensionally consistent, uniform in density, and tuned for optimal mechanical response.
The Benefits
-
Tight tolerances for a precise fit and stable performance
-
Uniform composition, ensuring consistency and long-term resilience
-
Enhanced environmental resistance against UV, ozone, and temperature variation
Validated Performance: Real-World Testing
Every SILBELT™ is not only engineered for performance — it is tested to prove it.
The Setup
We employ a magnetic eddy current brake system alongside an aluminium turntable platter to simulate real-world playback forces — such as stylus drag and groove modulation. These conditions allow us to observe the belt’s behavior under actual dynamic loads.
The Results
-
Slip remains under 0.5%, even under dynamic tracking forces
-
Creep measured below 0.01%, maintaining long-term dimensional stability
The result is outstanding speed accuracy and stable sonic reproduction across all conditions.
Surface Integrity: Grip That Endures
The surface finish of a turntable belt plays a vital role in maintaining stable transmission. Over time, conventional rubber materials can harden, plastify, or lose their original grip — increasing both creep and slip.
SILBELT™, made from high-grade RTV silicone, retains:
-
Flexibility and elasticity for ideal belt tension
-
A high coefficient of friction for stable grip
-
A consistent surface texture that ensures long-term performance
Built for the Long Term
SILBELT™ is not just a belt — it is a long-term investment in performance. Its unique combination of vacuum-cast precision and silicone durability ensures a level of reliability and sonic consistency far beyond what traditional rubber options can offer.
-
Creep < 0.01% – for unmatched speed stability
-
Slip < 0.5% – ensuring consistent rotational accuracy
-
Vacuum-cast silicone – engineered for refined, enduring performance
Crafted for the Listener Who Demands More
At Silence, we view even the most humble component as an opportunity to elevate the listening experience. SILBELT™ is a reflection of that philosophy — a product shaped by technology, refined by craft, and built to serve music at its highest level.
