Developed exclusively by Silence®, MAGNESTAT™ eliminates many of the inherent limitations of traditional unipivot tonearms, while introducing a geometry that bridges the best of both unipivot and cardan-bearing designs — with no compromise in tracking precision or musical integrity.

A New Standard in Pivot Stability

At the core of MAGNESTAT™ lies the ability to define a precise pivoting plane — a feature historically exclusive to cardan-style tonearms. This eliminates azimuth error that can occur during playback, particularly when navigating warped records or vinyl with varying thickness.

By aligning the pivot point and the counterweight’s center of mass with the same horizontal plane as the record surface and stylus tip, vibrational torque is effectively neutralized. The result is a tonearm that maintains perfect azimuth and channel balance, even under challenging playback conditions.

Advanced Bearing Architecture

The unipivot bearing used in TA-1 combines a sapphire cup with a tungsten needle, engineered with a precisely matched tip radius. Magnetic preloading minimizes the characteristic bearing chatter and arm wobble often associated with unipivot designs.

Additional control is provided by:

• Split counterweight architecture

• Magnetic preloading of the bearing

• Silicone damping fluid inside the bearing cup

Together, these measures eliminate bearing rattle and ensure ultra-smooth tracking, even on dynamically complex records.

The tonearm tube is crafted from 17.0mm carbon fiber, offering exceptional stiffness and low mass. A permanently bonded headshell ensures maximum structural continuity and energy transfer.

Internally, the tube is filled with rubber foam damping material, eliminating standing waves and reducing noise caused by micro-vibrations.
